Journal Entry 3

Activity: Finishing the game and exporting (creating walkthrough video, screenshots)

Time: 4.5 hours

Description:
Final work on the project has been made. Added all enemies according to the given design, added underground environment decorations and music to the gameplay. Corrected several settings to match OPD - the gun has been stolen from Ellen, added some heavy bricks to her pockets to prevent her jumping too high - that also propagated into modifying the surface tilemap slightly.

Some touches to the gem counter UI to make it appear correctly at almost any aspect ratio, and implemented final message when player reaches end of the level.

Finally another attempt to modify the camera to function properly: camera confiner adjusted to correctly show area when playing at aspect ratio of 16:9. I didn't really find any good reliable way how to confine the camera view properly and that is the subject of further improvements in next game versions.

Direct deviations from One Page Design:
- Slight change of tilemap, mostly where there was an activatable door.
- Camera view is smaller than on the deisgn preview - I found no way to change it.
- HUD UI has different positions - again I found no way how to relocate preimplemented UI nor create my UI relative under the preimplemented one.
- Slight visual differences: the underground art props were absent in the OPD. The surface decorations were hopefully meant to be the way I implemented them, a sun in OPD was in my version presented as light rays.

Notes from implementor to designer:
One Page Design was nice, easily understandable, straightforward. Only thing I have to mention, the appearance of the surface according to the gems collected - maybe place the surface more farther away so player has no chance to see how the surface changes when he collects gems and better think of gems placement or ratios for the surface changes. As I mentioned earlier, there is basically no chance for player to collect less than a half of gems to see a "bad" surface
